Nancy Shipley Cerna, Textile Artist
Nancy S. Cerna, Textile Artist and Owner of NotJustQuiltZ, comes with a diverse background in business and design.
Nancy comes from a heritage of needle workers in Ohio. She received her Associate Degree in Business from the University of Dayton. Upon moving to San Francisco, CA, Nancy earned her BA in Interior Design from San Francisco State University in 1977. She worked as an Interior Designer with an emphasis on residential design at some of the Bay Area’s finest stores—W&J Sloan, Flegel’s Home Furnishings and Gumps.
While working as a Project Coordinator in the Corporate Space Planning Department at Bank of America, she served as the interface with the Art Curator.
In 1996, Nancy moved into financial services with World Savings Bank. She wrote the training manual while serving as the head trainer for financial sales representatives located around the country.
Her love of fabrics and color brought Nancy back into the creative world again in 2003 with the opening of NotJustQuiltZ.
An award-winning hand and machine quilter, certified judge and quilt instructor, she served as Chairman of her Quilt Guild’s
Quilt Shows in 2003 and 2004. Her designs have been displayed at artisan collectives in Danville and San Jose, California. Her products have also been featured at Steve’s Hallmark in Fremont, on public television KTEH and at various fund raising events around the San Francisco Bay Area.
